What Do Cats Do At 2AM?

February 21, 2010

Ever wonder what we Harwich Spirits Shoppe cats do at two o’clock in the morning? Well this will give you some idea…

Yeah, that’s me, Cisco, in the white ellipse pondering things eternal. (Or was that just a dial tone?) Anyway, Ponchita and I typically do the following… We roam the shop for our almost-favorite wines and simply steal them along with a few snacks. (Whatcha gonna do Bruce (aka Da Gizz)? Call the cops? You think that they’ll believe that you have two cats who can not only steal wine, but open it, and then blog about the process as well? I don’t think so!)

Besides, we attract customers and are rodent-ready gobblers should the need ever arise….  Gotta pay the piper dude. But there’s always a problem in that Bruce carries quality wines and actually knows what he’s talking about. We lean towards the… ummm… the more “apocryphal”, or lesser, or questionable wines. We believe in adventure! (And, if we do yack up some junk we can blame it on hairballs.) But ya takes what ya gets, and in the case of the ol’ HSS, ya gets good stuff. Still, we long for the roaring (if not flaming days) of Australian Table Wines…

Alas, we have to settle for a 1997 Gallo Single Vineyard Northern Sonoma Cabernet…

And that’s what these cats do at 2AM.

See you by the racks, and if you can, bring some Chateau Chanda just for old times sake…

News Flash! Pic of Mathematically-Inclined Cats

February 18, 2010

This just in to Shoppe Talk… Here’s a picture of Tiler & Banks, the two cats who respectfully entered a guess of 724 corks for their roommate Joseph Costa.

When asked about their remarkably accurate calculation, they simply replied that they were off by only 6.46%, but seemed slightly disappointed. They explained that they had taken an outline of the jug holding the corks, mathematically spun that outline into three dimensions and then calculated in the volume of the average cork along with random spacing. Banks was quick to interject that their problem was in the guesstimate of the jug wall thickness and wistfully said that if they’d had gotten that right, they would have easily beaten their project design specs of +/- 5%. Then they both went back to sleep.

The other two cats blogging by the racks…
