Contest and Sale Update

January 31, 2010

Hey!

Well, add The Port restaurant and their sister operation Ember Coal Fired Pizza and Wings to the contest contributors. They’re offering a $25 gift certificate… Seriously, our cork counting contest has completely left planet Earth. Quite honestly, we don’t know what to type anymore… It’s February on Cape Cod, and we’ve got a contest with no less than 17 merchants kicking in over $1,500 worth of prizes… Once again, here’s the jug… Make your best guesstimate as to the number of corks in that puppy and send your estimate to us as a comment – couldn’t be easier. Just remember, the drawing/pot-luck party/wine tasting/beer tasting is apx. 3pm, Feb 14, Valentines Day. As the saying goes, “B there or B2“.

And if that wasn’t enough, the ol’ Harwich Spirits Shoppe’ sale keeps rolling along… Just give the image below a click or two to get a good gander at the deals…

As always,

Contest Goes Completely Nuts, And…

January 28, 2010

That’s it! That’s it!!! We’ve lost our collective minds… Somehow Da Gizz has got yet more prizes… Look, we’re just two “store cats”, but we know insanity when we see it. Check out the latest:

First, there’s the grand daddy of all prizes, a two hour sail for six guests aboard the schooner “Tyrone“… Wow! Just look at her…

OK, being a hack boat builder and moderator for two boat-building forums, I can step out of the usual and speak with some degree of authority on this one… The boat above was designed by none other than Sam Crocker. She is without a hint of a shadow of a doubt an American masterpiece. Think of it as the boating version of Ella Fitzgerald… Just to touch her is worth the $500, let alone a two hour adventure for six… Tell you what, if you don’t win or even enter the contest… So what!?! Contact: matthew@capecodlavenderfarm.com and get your butt on board. For me at least, boats like that are life changing events. No kidding.

Alrighty then, back to that contest…

The Cape Sea Grille has ponied up a $25 gift certificate. Very nice.

Ditto for Malley Designs with yet another $25 gift certificate…

What’s that? You don’t like free contests? OK… Put the contest aside. But speaking as a cat who’s been on Cape Cod in one way, shape, or form since 1958, I’m telling you that the merchants who are offering these prizes bring serious game.  These businesses are rife with value.

And what are the other prizes??? Well…

All you have to do is leave a comment with your guess as to the number of corks are in the bottle

And as if the contest wasn’t enough… This whole idea of a pot-luck block party set for the cork counting date of the afternoon of Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day is going crazy as well. Just show up and bring some food. Heck, everybody through the door gets a prize of some sort. (And it ain’t crap either!)

Look, we cats have got to sign off before Da Gizz catches us using the computer again. (He’ll never figure out how we cracked his passwords… Hehehe…)

But there’s more coming… And you won’t believe it!

Da Gizz Escapes, and the Contest Grows

January 27, 2010

Cisco (frustrated and incredulous): Oh Gawd! There he goes! Da Gizz is gone… He’s on another prize-recruiting bender for the Valentine’s Day Cork-Counting Contest

Ponchita (sobbing): I know, I know, I know…

Cisco: How could you do this?!? First you let him out of the cellar, and then you couldn’t even hold him down while I bolted the front door!

Ponchita (snapping back): Well what did you want me to do?!? I’m a 5 pound cat and he’s a 220 pound human. Besides, he was crawling like that killer robot at the end of the “Terminator” movie. Geez, his eyes were all red and everything…

Cisco (anger rising): You don’t seem to get it do you?!? Take a good look at that picture of Bruce… It’s right over there on the wall… Look at it!

Ponchita (pleading): What is his problem?

Cisco: His “problem” is this … Da Gizz is possessed… He is determined to pile on the prizes for this contest… Rumor has it that the $1,000 pot isn’t good enough. Rumor has it that he’s adding another $500 worth of booty. That’s his problem!

Ponchita: And that’s not to mention the block party he’s trying to whip up.

Cisco (gathering himself): OK… Take a deep breath… What have we got?

Ponchita: Let’s see, we have an escaped lunatic dressed in a Hawaiian shirt, pajama bottoms, insulated booties (no socks), and wearing a wine-cork and lobsta-claw cap driving around Cape Cod in a green pickup with a white star on the door trying to drum up yet more prizes for a blog contest in January during tough economic times… … Ummm… Maybe we should call the police?

Cisco (staring at Ponchita as if she’s lost her mind): The cops? The cops?!? First of all, they wouldn’t believe that two cats could call them, let alone document this insanity in a blog. Secondly, would YOU believe that Da Gizz is out roaming the streets of Cape Cod in his PJs wearing a wine-cork and lobsta-claw cap trying to garner more goodies. And to top it off, we don’t have to call the cops… Oh, we’ll being seeing them when this craziness comes to a boil.

Ponchita (deep sigh): Well, I guess it couldn’t get any worse…

Cisco (exploding in fury): What do you mean it couldn’t get any worse?!? That madman is starting to create on-line wine tutorials… He’s going to be holding those classes from the top of Scargo Tower to the depths of someone’s basement – airplanes and submarines are not off limits to Da Gizz… Hades, he’s even talking about a newsletter and blog auctioning!

Ponchita (genuinely scared): So what do we do?

Cisco (despondent): I don’t know… Prep emergency supplies? Get lawyers, guns, and money? Who knows… Extra cat litter? Hey! Maybe we’ll get lucky and the seagulls will see his hat and take him out for us… I just don’t know…

Biff and the Cork Contest… Post Superbowl Sanity

January 24, 2010

Hey,

Da Gizz speaks: Take a look at that bottle above (with Biff) and ponder the contest. It really begs the questions: “How many corks are in the bottle?“, and, “What on earth are you going to do when the Super Bowl is a week in the past?” After all you’re facing Valentine’s Day right in the kisser? I’ll tell you what… Head for Harwich Spirits Shoppe on Sunday, Feb 14 at least by 3pm… Along with the cork count, there will be free food, free wine tasting, and best of all, a free gift for everyone. (Has Da Gizz ever let you down?)

And on a related note… Now that we’re over $1,000 in prizes… How do we split up the booty? Here’s how! The Grand Prize winner gets 50% value of everything. The other two winners get 30% and 20% depending on their luck. All important! Da Gizz decides what goes where and he’ll take care of shipping, even if it’s to the moon or Gawd forbid Detroit.

Handing control back to those two stinking cats… See you by the racks…

Bruce

Yet Another Cork Count Contest Update…

January 21, 2010

I’m telling you Ponchita, this Cork Counting Contest is exploding in our faces… How tough can it be to guess the number of corks in the jug below? (Keep in mind that the vessel is almost full now.)

And look at this! Here’s the latest updated list of prizes:

Whew! That’s over $950 and climbing. This contest is taking a life of its own, and all the local merchants are jumping in… You the reader might want to jump in as well… All you need to do is guess the number of corks in da bottle and send a comment with your prognostication to this blog. But don’t dally… The contest ends Sunday, Valentine’s Day! (Rumor has it that the Harwich Spirits Shoppe party and cork counting begins on Feb 14, 3pm… There will be wine tasting, food, and who knows what…)

See you by the wine racks and that all important collection of corks!

Two cats blogging,

P.S. On a separate and more serious note, recently, the Harwich Board of Health conducted one of its ongoing tests to see what stores are providing accessibility of tobacco to minors… Once again, Harwich Spirits Shoppe passed with flying colors! Unfortunately, 11 of the other 22 businesses tested failed.

Harwich Spirit Shoppe’s New Streaming Web and Contest Reminder Cam

January 19, 2010

Yeah, it had to happen… A geek-o-phile like Da Gizz just had to have his own streaming, real-time Web cam. And here it is. Nothing spectacular… But at least you can watch the comings and goings, and at night watch two cats use a white board to wrestle with the mechanics of warped space-time.

Hey! Take a look at a screen shot of the cam in action.

And dig that handsome feline in the foreground… What a dashing lad! (I would have been a real hit with the ladies if Bruce hadn’t had the vet cut my you know what’s off… I’ll get you Gizz if it’s the last thing I do!)

Onward…

And how do you participate in the video HSS madness? Ah, that’s easy… There’s a box over on the right of every post (past, present, and future) with the title, “Harwich Spirits Shoppe Cam”. And in that box is a clickable link titled, “Shop cam”. Say no more!

Before we sign off for more kitty kibble, we’ll leave you with a reminder that the “Cork Counting Contest” is still on. To see the bottle itself, just plop your eyeballs here.

Gotta run, Kibble calls! Be sure to comment on this blog with your guess on the cork count, and don’t be a stranger!

Contest Update!!! More Prizes!!! Gizz Goes Nuts!!!

January 19, 2010

Yowsers!!! No really… Yowsers!!! Somehow, in one of his mad-monk, Rasputin-type episodes, Da Gizz has convinced umpteen local merchants to add prizes to That Cork Countin’ ContestAnd just look at these prizes:

I’m telling you Ponchita, they’re adding more prizes by the day to this contest… In one of his more lucid moments (though he was still wearing his wine cork and lobsta claw hat), Da Gizz says that the Harwich Spirits Shoppe will not only be putting in a $75.00 Merchandise Gift Certificate but will also be adding more than $200.00 in product-specific merchandise. Seriously, people have got to get in here and take a look at that bottle of corks!

Crazy man…
