More Roaming with Da Gizz and Three Contests Await

December 28, 2010

Hey! Cisco the HSS blogging cat here…

Just when you think you’ve seen all of the store… Well, here’s some more!

Sorry for the herky jerky nature of the video, but at least you get the idea. Ya know… There’s got to be a better way… How about this? How about we set up the cam on a tripod in strategic locations throughout the store, and then have Bruce speak a bit for all things that fall within the lens’ grasp. Next we can have him move to the next area, reposition the cam, and repeat the process ad nauseum. There would be no jitter, but you could still get a good feel for the funkiness of the place… Now that has possibilities!

Finally, we still have three contests worth $25/each in beer and wine for all you adults out there. (A note here… Harwich Spirits Shoppe does not “sell” your contact information. Aside from that being wrong, we’re just too damned lazy to go through the hassle!)

See you by the racks,

Two cats blogging…

Roaming the Harwich Spirits Shoppe with Da Gizz, and Those Open Contests

December 27, 2010

Hey! Cisco the blogging cat here…

Hope you had a pleasant and safe Christmas… Pochita and I sure did… We pillaged some of Bruce’s most expensive wines, ate all the jerky, called Da Gizz at 2AM and told him that if he had Prince Albert in a can, he’d better let him out because he couldn’t breathe. (What a riot!!!) Then we used his office chair for… Ah-hem… But back to business…

In case you’ve never visited the store (or haven’t been there in the last few days), here’s a walk-around including the new back room. Let’s just say that the establishment is distinctly unique. (Think of a cross between Provincetown and Hunter S. Thompson…)

Sorry for the slight fuzziness – we’ve got a new camera and we’re still fussing with it… Hopefully, you get the idea. (Here’s another video tour of the joint…)

Let’s see… What else??? Oh yeah… At last glance, we still have three contests just waiting for a winner…

So who has the guts to take a shot at one of these puppies??? (We’re especially interested in any attempts to endure the movie straight faced… If you can do that, I’d like to meet you (or not)).

Well, that should do it for tonight… Once again, happy holidays!

See you by the racks…

Ho ho ho!

December 25, 2010

Cisco the blogging cat here, wishing you all a merry Christmas from all of us at the Harwich Spirits Shoppe. That includes our very own house elf, Da Gizz:

And on another note, Da Gizz has been working hard on the new wine room, and as of now, it’s finished and being stocked with all sorts of wonderful potables and amazing vintages!

I have to say, Da Gizz did a fantastic job on the marquetry on the floor, didn’t he? This photo is from before the finish was put on. Now, it’s nothing short of magnificent! And did I mention potables and vintages? Well, here they are!

So stop by tomorrow and check it out.

See you by the racks!

Two cats blogging,

P.S. Remember those contests!

Christmas Sale and a Gift to You

December 24, 2010

Hey all you Cats and Kittens! Cisco the blogging cat here!

Hope you’ve got all your holiday shopping done, but just in case you haven’t, remember that good ol’ Harwich Spirits Shoppe still has its Merry Sale ongoing!

Business aside, here’s our Christmas gift to you… This is Karen Carpenter singing Ave Maria accompanied by her brother Richard… Stunning…

If you’re an aficionado of fine music, you really should buy the Carpenters “Christmas Collection” CD (or download the MP3 contents.) That disc contains the song above and a bunch of others – great stuff…

Well, it’s late and this feline has got to roll… Happy holidays and to all a good night… We’ll see you by the racks,

Two cats blogging…

P.S. Contests!

Gingerbread Recipe and Appropriate Beer… And What About That Sale???

December 22, 2010

Hey! Cisco the blogging cat here! Check out this puppy…

Yup, that’s an honest to gawd home-made loaf of gingerbread, and here’s how to make it…

Ingredients

* 1/2 cup white sugar (I used 1/4 c white sugar and 1/4 c dark brown sugar)
* 1/2 cup butter
* 1 egg
* 1 cup molasses
* 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
* 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
* 2 teaspoons ground ginger
* 1/2+ teaspoon ground cloves
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 cup hot water

Directions

1.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a nine inch square pan (or comparable loaf pan)
2.) In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Beat in the egg, and mix in the molasses.
3.) In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Blend into the creamed mixture. Stir in the hot water. Pour into the prepared pan.
4.) Bake one hour in the preheated oven, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in pan before serving.

But now what beer to accentuate? “Very simple!” this feline says – Sam Adams Boston Lager! In this miserable weather (sorry about blowing the forecast BTW), one needs a drink robust enough to warm the soul… Yeah, a Sams would do. (Geez Wally, you’d think a sale or a few contests would come in handy right about now…)

Now how about that?

As always, two cats blogging by the racks…

Sale! AND New Impossible Contest…

December 18, 2010

Hey,

Cisco the HSS blogging cat here… Man, have we got news for you!

Harwich Spirits Shoppe is having yet another sale… Check out the details…

  • Mix 6-packs of beer for pro-rated prices. (Great for the party where everyone wants a different brew!)
  • Any 6 bottles of wine and save 10%
  • Mix any 10 bottles of wine and save 20%
  • Mix any 12 bottles of wine and save 25%
  • Mix any 6 {750 ml or larger}, get @ cost
  • We also have gift cards that can be programed to any amount of money. It’s the perfect gift if you wish to allow the recipient to choose his or her own purchase.

Secondly, we’re starting a new contest… (Don’t forget our other two contests… As always, $25 hangs in the balance…)

To win this puppy the rules are simple:

  1. First, rent the 1953 horror “Robot Monster” (below…)

  2. Next, watch it in its entirety while sober without laughing, snickering, guffawing, falling asleep, or uttering such expressions as, “Where the ‘bleep’ did that come from?“, or “You’ve got to be ‘bleeping’ kidding me!
  3. Third, come on in to the Harwich Spirits Shoppe with your most cherished, small, portable possession (holy book, prayer beads, Rolling Stones CD…) and swear on that object that you meet the rules above…
  4. Answer a final movie-related question that proves to us that you really did suffer through that turkey…
  5. (The obvious rules apply: You must be 21 years of age or over to participate, contest winnings are only applicable to beer and wine, no non-humans allowed, contest judges’ rulings are final, blah, blah, blah…)

Well, that will do it… A sale and an impossible contest…

Nor’easter Threat? Probably Not, But…

December 17, 2010

Hey!

Cisco the blogging HSS cat here… So what do you think??? Are we going to get that Nor’Easter Sunday/Monday or what? I’m betting, “no”, but I could be wrong… And heaven knows that something like the beast below can ruin your weekend…

Still, in keeping with our concern for you (dead customers tend to be extremely cheap!), here are three emergency readiness links we hope you visit and are proactive relative to the contents…

But anywho… Stock up on your beer and wine beforehand, and then just settle in. I’m telling you, sooner or later Old Man Winter is going to let us have it right in the chops… Are you prepared???

Two cats smiling in the bunker…

P.S. Keep an eye on those last two contests… They won’t last forever! (And after those are done, we have the most unusual, insidious, impossible, honor-system contest ever, where you declare yourself the winner… You just have to prove yourself worthy!)
