2nd Annual HSS Memorial Day Yard Sale and Potluck

Folks, the first big weekend of “the season” is almost upon us. Can you believe that Memorial Day is just around the corner? Ponchita and I find it difficult–let me tell you, it’s been a loooong winter for two cats!

Since state law requires that all liquor stores close on Memorial Day, why not use the outdoor space for something fun for the whole family and the whole town? Yes, that’s right, it’s time to remind you all that the 2nd Annual HSS Memorial Day Yard Sale and Potluck will be held on Monday, May 30.

Last year’s sale was a smashing success–we had over a dozen vendors, and hundreds of shoppers and buyers showed up! Plus, of course, the weather was perfect; we’re hoping for the same forecast this year.

Here’s the skinny:

Sellers: if you’d like to be a vendor, space for your table is $10, payable to Da Gizz on or before May 29. You have to bring your own table, but the sooner you pay, the better space you get!

Buyers: stop by early and often! While a lot of vendors were up and selling by 8:00am, some of our peddlars were setting up tables until about noon. So far, some of the merchandise you will see will be: kitchenwares (cast iron skillets, anyone?), CDs, tools, estate jewelry, vintage items, bakelite, gently used clothing, some very nice Polish Pottery, old books and magazines, handcrafts, garage items, tchotchkes, good antiques, junky antiques, and probably some plain old junk. And that’s just the beginning!

Food: we ask all vendors to bring a dish to share with each other and with the buyers. (Free food always brings ’em in!) Last year we had hotdogs, hamburgers, cookies, and treats of all kinds. Bottled water was available for purchase, as well.

We’ll be updating the blog as more vendors sign up, so check back frequently. If you’d like to stroll down memory lane, you can check out our write-up on last year’s sale here (with video!)

Two cats blogging and yard-saling!
