With all the crap politics and crap politicians (and politician wannabes) around, how’s this for a simple idea. Non-politicians (Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Jay Leno, Alex Trebek, Neil Cavuto, Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs, bloggers, etc. ) offer a simple challenge for all our elected officials (local, state, federal). We film them live taking a simple 10 question quiz that reflects the stuff that all adults should know. No cell phones, calculators, computers, or assistance is allowed. Here’s a good quiz…
.) Name 10 U.S. states that claim salt water as a border…
.) Within +/- 20%, what is the current U.S. GDP?
.) Within +/- 20%, what is the current U.S. debt?
.) Within +/- 20%, what is the current U.S. unfunded liability debt? (SS, Medicare/Medicaid/pensions)
.) What is 1/2 + 5/31? (Eek! Adding fractions!)
.) Within +/- 20%, how wide is the continental U.S.? (In miles.)
.) Name the United States’ major enemies during WWII
.) Within +/- 20%, how many people are there in America?
.) Write one trillion as a number using 1’s, 0’s, and commas.
.) Solve the following equation for “x”: 3x + 9=15
And that should do it… Assuming our elected ones have a decent education, keep up on current affairs, and have just a tad of world experience, this should be a sleeper within 10 minutes… If they drop below 70%, look out. (Answers are at the bottom of this post.)
